Summary and Moral Value

Big Turtle story tells us about the world long time ago, when people lived in the beautiful Sky World and animals lived in under the Sky World which was all water. One day, a girl in the Sky World who was on her way, took a rest under a tree and fell asleep because she was very tired.

Suddenly, a big thunder made a big hole at where the girl sleeping She got up as she fell into the hole. Two swans that were swimming in the World Water, spread their wings to catch the falling girl.The swans and the girl didn't know what to do, it was impossible for the girl to come back to the Sky World but she also couldn't live in water or stay on swans wings.

The swans finally took the girl to Big Turtle and told him the incident. He called all water animals, telling them an old story about soil in deep water.

 It made everyone struggled for their chances to dive to deep water in an argument. Then, Toskwaye, an ugly little toad came and wanted her chance to dive. Everyone laughed at her because they thought she couldn't dive that deep. But Big Turtle said that all animals had their chances to dive.

 Other animals failed to get the soil, until Toskwaye's turn to dive. Everyone was afraid she couldn't get back. But after a while, she appeared on the water surface with the soil. She did it, though she died after it.

Big Turtle ordered the others to rub and spread the soil onto his shell. It grew to be an island that the girl could live on it. That is American Native Indian's legend about the world where we live nowadays, and Toskwaye is Mashutana -means Our Grandmother.

From the story, we can learn many things from the characters's characteristics. The swans teach us to help other people in trouble or difficulty. The water animals teach us not to underrate anyone because of his/her outward appearance, they might be better than us in other case. Toskwaye's characteristic teaches us not to depend on people's mockeries. BigTurtle's characteristic also make us learn that we have to be able to solve every problems wisely.

Big Turtle

Many years ago the world had two parts. Animals lived in the lower part, which was was completely covered in water and had no land or soil. Above was the Sky World, where the sky people lived. The Sky World had lots of soil, with beautiful mountains and valleys. One day a girl from the Sky World went for a long walk and became very tired.

"I'm so tired, I need to rest" she said. She sat down under the spreading branches of an apple tree and quickly fell asleep.

Suddenly, there was a rumbling sound like thunder and the ground began to crack. A big hole opened up next to the apple tree.

"What's happening?" screamed the frightened girl. She tried to move but it was too late. She and the tree slid through the hole and tumbled over and over towards the watery world below.

"Help me! Help me!" screamed the girl. Luckily two swans were swimming below and saw the girl tumbling down from the sky.

"Come on!" yelled one swan. "Let's catch her before she hits the water"
"Okay!" yelled the other.

The swans spread their wings together and caught the girl on their soft feather backs.

"Whew! That was lucky" said the girl. "But what do I do now? I can't get back up to the Sky World and I can't stay on your backs forever."

"We'll take you to Big turtle" said the swans. "He knows everything."

After hearing what happened, the Big Turtle called all the animals in the water world to a meeting. He told them an old story about soil being found deep under the water.

"If we can get some of that soil, we can build an island on my back for you to live on" said the Big Turtle. "Sounds good to me" said the young girl.

The Otter, Beaver and Muskrat started arguing over who would dive for the soil.

"I'll go" said the sleek Otter, brushing his glossy fur.

"No! I'll go" said Beaver, slapping the water with his big flat tail.

"I'm the best swimmer" said Muskrat "I'll go."

"Aaaachooo!" sneezed the young girl. "Guys, guys, would just one of you go. These swan feathers are getting up my nose and making me sneeze."

"Sorry" said the swans.

"That's alright" said the young Sky girl.

Then Toskwaye the little Toad, popped up out of the water. "I'll go. I can dive very deep" she said.

The other animals started laughing and pointing at Toskwaye. "You! You're too small and ugly to help." cried the others, laughing.

"Be quiet!" said Big Turtle in a loud, stern voice. "Everyone is equal and everyone will have a chance to try."

The sleek Otter smoothed his glossy fur, took a deep breath and slid into the water. He was gone for a long time before he came up gasping for air.

"It was too deep" he said. "I couldn't dive that far.

"Now it's my turn" said Beaver. He slapped the water with his tail as he disappeared. After a long time he came to the surface again.

"It's too far" he gasped. "No one can dive that deep."

Muskrat tried next and failed. "Aaaachoo!" sneezed the young girl. "This is not looking good"

"Now it's my turn" said little Toskwaye the Toad. She took a deep breath and jumped into the water. She was gone a very long time and everyone thought they wouldn't see her again.

Suddenly Otter pointed at the water, shouting "Look, look! Bubbles!"

Toskwaye's small, ugly face appeared through the water. She spat a few grains of soil onto the Big Turtle's back, then fell back into the water - dead.

The Turtle ordered the others to rub the soil grains and spread them around on his shell. The grains grew and grew, until a large island was formed - big enough for the girl to live on. It grew into our world as we know it today. And the descendants of the Sky girl became the Earth's people. Today, some people say the whole world still rests on Big Turtles back. When he gets tired and changes his position, we have earthquakes. Toad has not been forgotten either. American native Indians call her "Mashutaha", which means 'Our Grandmother'. No one is allowed to harm her.

Autobiography

I'm Aulia Salma Azmi, people call me Aulia or Salma. Why? Because actually I am called Salma, but there were more than one, two, three, or maybe five people that have Salma as their nicknames in my junior high school, so it was better to be called Aulia. Although there was someone named Aulia too, but just one person. In fact, we’re bestfriends.

I'm also called Aus, that's my other nickname from my 8th grade math teacher, I like that nickname though some people laugh at it. Because I always diverts it to Ausome (awesome). Hahaha.

I was born in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia, on 26^th of September 1998. My elementary school was SDN Garuda 1 Bandung, my class were 1A to 6A. Then, my junior high school was SMPN 1 Bandung. And now, I go to SMAN 3 Bandung, I am a X Science 7 student.

I love to study science, math, English and also fine arts. I think I am bad at history. Because I have to learn complex stories in days of yore that so hard to understand and remember something I never experience. My hobbies are learning and watching football, my favorite team is Manchester United. I will join BM3 and SEF in all the years in high school. i just promise in case of loyalty.

Introducing A Friend

I'd like to introduce my friend. Her name is Nissa Febriani. She has a lot of nicknames like Nissa, Feb, Pebs, but everyone in high school calls her Pet. That name was given by Kang Anas when we were in PLiST. She lives at Cihanjuang, Cimahi, West Java, Indonesia. She goes to school by motorcycle. She has one young sister and one young brother, their names are Keysha and Aziz.

Her hobbies are playing video games and playing futsal. The video game she likes to play the most is Bioshock Infinite, she likes it because Cry –her favorite gamer plays it too. She also enjoys watching YouTube videos from Pewdiepie.

She joined futsal team in junior high school. So she will join Belitung Muda 3. Her position in team is goalkeeper. Everyone knows her as a cool person. J

Memorable Time

It was in May 2013 when my 9^th grade class friends ganged together at our teacher’s home. Her home was in Cimahi, West Java, Indonesia, but I can’t remember the address exactly. Some of us gathered at school in that morning and went there in group and the others went by their own vehicles.

We got confused on the way there due to most of us not live in Cimahi. But finally we reached our teacher’s home and we were shocked with the house dog barks. Actually the dog was so nice and easy to play. Its name was Choco, named after its fur color.

We started cooking for lunch, as we planned before. But not all of us cooking for lunch, we also playing piano, singing, playing cards, and everything fun. After all, we had our lunch while watching Code Lyoko on Spacetoon.

In the afternoon, we played futsal in front of the home though two of my friends, Erina and Nurul A still couldn’t stop playing piano. When Persib, football team of Bandung played, everyone just watched it. At about 5 PM, we made a harlem shake video. And after that, many people went to one of my friend’s, Feb’s, home to keep overnight. But I didn’t join them, so I don’t know how the night was.

That day was so groovy, sometimes I want to go back to that time. That is one of my memorable experiences, I hope your experiences feel more attractive, impressed, and surely memorable. :D
